She's got the looks and she's got a love for rock 'n' roll and she has her own web page as well. Plus, she's all all around cool woman to get to know. Who is she? Well, you can call her a Ballbuster Babe if you want. But, I call her Shred Girl. She recently took the time to answer a few questions for me so that you, the ever so loyal Ballbuster readers, could get to know her. Now, you might be asking yourself, "Is she worth getting to know?" If you ask me that question, I'd respond with a hard rockin' "Hell, yeah!"
First of all, please introduce yourself to the Ballbuster readers.
Hi, I'm Shred Girl. I have a website dedicated to heavy metal music with links, CD reviews and band/artist interviews. I plan to expand my site this year and add new and exciting things. You can also see more pictures of me at my website and more are on the way.
What made you decide to start doing this and how long have you been doing it?
I have always loved photography and I love to express myself. What a better way that with my own website.
I do have to compliment you...you're a very attractive woman and I look forward to seeing more pictures of you. Do you plan on making a career out of this or is it something you do just for fun? Shred Girl: Thank you. Right now, it's just for fun. But, I would consider making a career out of it if the right opportunity arose.
What's the meaning behind the name Shred Girl?
I wanted a catchy name for my website and since I have always been into guitar shredding and my boyfriend is a serious guitar shredder, the name fit me perfectly.
What do you like to do in your spare time, when you're not taking new pictures or answering questions such as these?
I like to spend time with my boyfriend. I like spending time with my family and playing with my dog. My absolute favorite thing to do is travel, especially to Las Vegas. Seeing a good metal show is usually fun. I also like swimming and lounging around by the pool...and shopping!
Let's talk about music. What are some of your favorite bands and what is your favorite style of music? Shred Girl: I like different types of music. I am a fan of 80's metal. Some of my favorites are Dokken, Scorpions, Aerosmith and Keel. I also like 70's music a lot and I enjoy listening to jazz, big band music like Benny Goodman and Glenn Miller. I used to play steel drums, so, Calypso is one of my favorites.
What do you look for in a new band?
I look for originality in new bands, something that makes them stand out from the rest. I also look for quality musicianship. I like to see a band that is real tight and every musician seems to compliment each other.
What are your thoughts on the music scene?
I think the major scene is lacking something and has been for years. On the other hand, the independent scene is thriving. I look for a lot of the independent musicians to take over the mainstream scene and show them how it's done.
What's your honest opinion of the term "sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll?"
Well, I think it's a tired and overused term and I do not think they all necessarily go hand in hand.
Ballbuster has a column called "Haunted Happenings," which about people who have had anything "weird" happen to them. Have you ever experienced anything like that, anything you couldn't explain or that you could pass off as "supernatural?"
When I was nine years old, shortly after my grandfather died, I was scared to go to his wake andhe appeared to me as if he was letting me know that it was okay and he was okay. This is and always will be a vivid memory in my mind.
Thanks for taking the time to interview me and thanks to everyone out there that has voted for me for Ballbuster Babe. Keep supporting heavy metal music and the women behind it!
