Let’s name-drop a few movies that you might have seen Harland Williams in. “Dumb & Dumber,” “Down Periscope,” “The Whole Nine Yards,” “Freddy Got Fingered” and “Robots,” he was the voice of Lug. There’s more to mention. But, those are the ones that I’ve seen. I can’t say that I’m familiar with his stand-up comedy. Well, I could, but, that would be a lie. So, when I got this disc to review, I was able to listen to it with fresh ears…and I laughed my ass off. Harland Williams is funny as hell. Some of the stuff that comes out of his mouth is just crazy. When he talks to the audience, which he does a lot, he comes up with the strangest name to call ’em. It seems so random…and so absurd. He makes it work though. I wish this release would’ve come with a DVD because listening to performance is one thing…watchin’ it is something else. You’re only gettin’ half the story when you’re listenin’ to a disc…and sometimes the disc doesn’t even give you the big picture because, as I’m sure you already know, it’s usually an edited version of the actual show…and Harland’s so funny, you wanna experience as much of his act as you possibly can. Harland also seems to do a lot of improv, which is something I really enjoy. Some of the best material a comic does is usually unexpected. The only complaint I have about this release is the album cover. It could’ve been better. Not that I mind a headshot of a wide-eyed Harland Williams. I just thought it could be done better. But, it’s what’s on the inside that counts, right? Besides…he’s got a pretty spiffy website. Go check it out…and pick up this disc while you’re there.
