No More Music Business. Could Gene Simmons be right?

Gene Simmons gets a lot of flak for some of the things that he has said, One thing he said that makes sense is the fact that there’s no music business. Consumers feel they are entitled to download music for free.
For a musician to make music they have to pay for instruments, studio time and none of those things are free or come cheap either. The best way to support new artists is not by liking their pages on Facebook or downloading their music for free but it’s buying paying for the music. When I was a kid in the 80s and 90s I supported my favorite bands by buying the music when the record would be released.
I was able to see Metallica 20 years ago and paid $27.50. Good seats were $37.50. Today if you want to go see a concert like Metallica you have to pay $100-$300 for those same seats and it comes from the fact that artist has to find other ways to make money.
The rock music world concerns me how are these new bands are going to survive. They have to make a living and it would be nice if people would be buying the records so they can continue especially if they are talented.

If you went into a store and got things for free there will be no employees, nobody would make money. It’s every artist’s right to make money regardless if their rich or not. Metallica are rich musicians but they are still entitled to put out a new record and not have it downloaded for free. A new artist is entitled to put out a record and have the consumer pay for it.
If you went to your job and one day & they decided not pay you and have you work for free you would quit. Same thing with musicians. Musicians should not do free labor and give you free music. You should pay for it! Even if you like one song you should pay the 99 cents.

I wonder how younger bands will be able to stay in business if consumers want their music free.
