Interview with Billy Graziadei from Biohazard

AFTER TWO YEARS BIOHAZARD ARE BACK…
“We are back stronger than ever..what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger….we wrote and recorded what became “means to an end” in early 2004…while we were mixing the album disaster struck and we lost EVERYTHING. We had to go back in and eventually turn a horrible situation into a miracle….we had the chance to make everything that we didn’t like about the first recording even better….breathing more Biohazard life into the songs..if something didn’t give us that exact vibe we were looking for…we’d throw it out and start over…”

WHAT YOU DID BETWEEN “KILL OR BE KILLED”AND “MEANS TO AN END”?
“After Kill or be Killed…we all had our various projects, family life, etc…Danny and I opened up our new studio, Underground Sound Studios (http://www.undergroundsoundstudios.com) and I began working on a new project which became a full fledge band called Suicide City, we are now on a 4 month tour of the US. Evan got more into the porn business with his wife Terra Patrick….then we got more focused on Means to an End, see above…”

IN WHICH WAYS “MEANS TO AN END” IS THE NATURALHEREIN OF “KILL OR BE KILLED”?
“Not sure what you mean by Naturalherein???? If you mean a progression….Kill of be Killed to me was a perfect album in the sense that I had a goal to capture my vision and I captured it. With Means to an End…I did the same but the goals were different. With Means…I wanted to re-capture the vibe of our earlier days where I felt held more of the ‘core’ Biohazard style!”

WHICH THE MAIN DIFFERENCIES BETWEEN THESE TWO ALBUMS?
“There are many differences….Kill was highly influenced by the situation directly after Sept.11, 2001. As an artist, my life is effected by my surroundings and my writting was highly impacted by 911! With Means…”

WHEN DID YO USTART WRITING IT?
“I am always writing. Creativity is something that I can’t control..and don’t want to….we began to put the ideas together for Means to an end around late 2003 and the beginning of 2004…”

WHAT’S ABOUT ITS MOOD?
“Mood????mmm..I went for the vibe that I thought was most Biohazard for me….the earlier albums like Urban Discipline rocked…that was the mood that I tried to keep…”

READING THE TITLES OF TRACKS I NOTICED A NEGATIVEVISION OF REALITY…
“Life is awesome…just filled with alot of negative! It’s easier for me to express my dissatisfaction with the negative parts of life than others…especially with Biohazard…”

HOW DO YOU REFLECT THE REALITY SURROUNDING YOU?
“Like a mirror…”

WHAT DO YOU THINK OF SITUATION OF YOUR COUNTRY?
“grim…dark…unsure..insecure….how’s that???”

I’D LIKE TO KNOW MORE ABOUT THE TEN TRACKS OF YOUR NEW ALBUM…
“????more….ok..how about…I wrote and recorded everything on the album naked and with a hard-on…. IT’s art..that’s it…how I feel…how I am…what I have inside…each and every song we’ve written is a piece of me!”

WHICH ONES DO YOU CONSIDER AS HIGHLIGHTS?
“My life my way, kings never die…”

THE SOUND IS VERY BRUTAL…
“as our world is…”

THE SOUND IS VERY GUITAR-ORIENTED…
“More so than ever…”

THE PRODUCING JOB IS EXCELLENT…
“No one knows my music better than I do…thankyou…I prefer to keep it most pure!”

SATISFIED WITH THE SOUND OF “MEANS TO AN END”?
“YEs…very satisfied….it is exactly what I wanted…the rawness and punchiness…more true sounding Biohazard than anything we’ve done in a long time!”

ANY YOU TOURING PLANS?
“No touring plans…”

WHO ARE BIOHAZARD AS PEOPLE?
“Biohazard was always four brothers from different mothers! Now we all have families and new lives but we will always be brothers!”

DO YOU HAVE ANY PARTICULAR HOBBIES?
“Jiu-Jitsu, surfing, snowboarding…reading, music…”

LAST WORDS?
“Suicide City…”
