The Ballbreaker Column

AC/DC, One of the few bands who kept the cycle of album/tour.

In the last 30 years, AC/DC has put out five studio albums. As a live act, they are the band to see when they come to town. AC/DC is one of the few bands who have kept the cycle of album/tour, while other groups will go out on the road even if they don’t have any new material to promote. Tours have pushed back to 2021.

It’s very likely in 2021; we could look forward to a new AC/DC album and tour. Just my best guess, AC/DC goes on the road 2021/2022. The band would again take a few years off and come back out in 2026 or 2027. By that time, the group will be in mid to late 70’s. Many of bands still around from the ’70s are now around that age and won’t be touring forever. KISS plans to end its career on July 17, 2021, in New York. Again what makes AC/DC unique is that they don’t tour every year.

My point is whenever AC/DC goes back on the road, we could be seeing a farewell tour. I hope I am wrong. If you are like me and have never seen AC/DC, go out and see them because they may not go back out on the road again. I would love to be 48/49 at an AC/DC concert. Over the next several years, we can expect to see some of these bands call it a day. The live experience of seeing some of these bands live is fantastic. The best way to describe it is to get to the show and tell me if I was right or wrong.
